What defines Hard Rock

Hard rock leans on loud, riff-driven guitar, a strong rhythm section and a big vocal. The riff is the hook, and the best records leave room for dynamics instead of running everything at one volume.

How we score it

The scorecard asks whether the riffs are memorable, whether the production gives the guitars weight without burying the vocal, and whether the album sustains its energy. Attitude alone does not score. See the scoring methodology.
